It’s official! I’m taking off on my bicycle touring adventure around South America tomorrow!
I’m extremely excited about the crazy adventures that I’m going to have riding my bicycle through mountains, jungles and cities while sleeping in a tent on the side of the road.
Trying to prepare all of the gear that I’m taking bicycle touring has been somewhat of a nightmare!
With a very small budget, I found most of the videos online that talk about bicycle touring gear unhelpful. The gear these videos talk about is expensive and way out of my price range.
After further research, I found there are cheaper alternatives on the market that can make your bicycle touring dream a reality (at a low cost).

Conclusion
I hope this bicycle touring gear list has shown you that you don’t need a lot of expensive gear to get on the road and start your next adventure.
While having the newest and most expensive gear will surely make your trip a little more comfortable, it’s not necessary.
In fact, having more basic equipment will not only make you appreciate the luxuries in your life more but also show you that travelling around the world really doesn’t have to be that expensive.
The whole set up for my bike (including the price of the bike) was less than $500 and I believe that it’s possible to have an even cheaper setup if you need to.
I can’t wait to hear about all of the crazy adventures you have planned!
